Is Britt Dacre your real name?
Britt Dacre is my pen name. It gives me the freedom to write the kinds of stories I love and build an author identity around them.
Do you use AI in your writing?
Yes. I use large language models for brainstorming, writing, and editing. My process involves plenty of back-and-forth, revision, and reworking. I make the final decisions about the story, the characters, and the words on the page.
Do you use AI-generated artwork?
I’ve used AI images while exploring visual ideas. The finished covers for What We Build and What We Carry were created by Deranged Doctor Design. The temporary What We Save graphic on this site is AI-generated and clearly labeled as a placeholder; it is not the book’s final cover.
Where in Texas do you live?
I’m in the Texas Hill Country, southwest of Austin. Houston has a special place in my heart—and in the Mercer Legacy.
